Every CSH chapter across the nation offers activities and traditions unique to their community. These fun events help tell our story, and make the Sunman chapter special.
Each year our chapter offers two showcases for families to celebrate our scholars and their amazing work.
Classes occur in three-week rotations with optional field trips on the weeks in between. Past trips have included: Cincinnati Observatory, Cincinnati Zoo, Levi and Catharine Coffin House (historic Underground Railroad home), in-school assemblies with local professionals, State Park hikes, nature centers … and so much more!
A favorite for our chapter is our annual field day. Just before school ends for the year, scholars are divided up into teams to work together and complete a number of obstacles. Supporting and cheering each other onto the finish, top teams are then awarded ribbons at the Spring Showcase!
We are blessed to be able to host two breakfasts through a local parish community. These opportunities allow us to serve as a way to raise funds for our chapter. Funds raised assist chapter families that may need scholarships. Our Upper Level scholars also utilize raised funds to create community service projects like donation drives, or nursing home programs.
Twice a year we add a little more fun to our in-class day. We celebrate these as close to their feast days as our schedule allows!
Community among adult members is important since everyone works together to make each year happen. Therefore, we offer quarterly mom’s night outings (or morning coffees), that include various activities or just meeting up for drinks. Activities for member dads, or couples, can also be coordinated and offered.
Each fall is an exciting time as we get to know the families joining us for a new year and venture. Our Annual Picnic happens just before our first chapter day. Families enjoy a meal, receive welcome packets, answer any questions, socialize, and are welcome to tour the facility.
Sometimes we may find ourselves needing a little help from friends. Therefore, our chapter offers meal train opportunities so that we can serve one another when a family may be facing a difficult time or have just welcomed a new baby.
